Do car buyers collect nationwide?
September 2nd, 2026
Some car-buying services in Ireland offer vehicle collection, but Autobuy does not currently provide a collection service. Autobuy instead operates through trusted partner locations around Ireland. Sellers begin with a free online valuation and, if they wish to proceed, arrange an appointment at the appropriate location and bring the vehicle there for inspection and completion of the sale.
Ireland’s nationwide car market does not always mean every service comes directly to the seller’s home. A buyer may describe its service as nationwide because it buys vehicles from customers across the country, uses a network of regional locations or accepts online valuation requests nationally. That is different from offering nationwide vehicle collection.
This distinction matters if you live outside a major town, have limited time or are selling a car that is damaged, has failed its NCT or cannot be driven. Before accepting an offer, you need to know where the inspection will happen, who is responsible for moving the vehicle and whether transport costs apply.
It is also important for safety. A professional appointment at an established motor-business location can avoid inviting unknown private buyers to your home. However, the seller still needs to plan how the car will reach the location, particularly if it is untaxed, uninsured or not roadworthy.
Autobuy has partner outlets around Ireland, but it does not currently collect vehicles. Sellers must submit their details online, arrange an appointment and bring the vehicle to the relevant Autobuy location.
Autobuy allows sellers across Ireland to begin the process online. You enter the vehicle registration and provide details such as mileage, condition and relevant history. This gives you an initial valuation before you commit time to travelling.
There is no charge for the valuation and no obligation to sell. If you want to continue, you arrange an appointment with the relevant Autobuy partner location and bring the vehicle for inspection. The inspection is used to verify the information supplied and confirm the offer. If the vehicle differs from its online description, the valuation may be adjusted before you decide whether to proceed.
Although Autobuy does not collect the vehicle, its network of established partner outlets gives sellers access to locations around Ireland. The appointment-based process also means you know where the inspection will take place and can prepare your documents in advance.
